Content and Copy
In one of our recent posts we discussed the power of images and photos to transform content and help it stand out from the seemingly endless deluge of articles and blogs that choke the information superhighway. And, if there is one social network that is the king (or queen, no need to be sexist) of image sharing it is Instagram. I know no one wants to have to learn how to use and navigate yet another sharing site but, trust me, Instagram will make it worth your while.
What is Instagram Anyway?
Instagram is quite simply an online mobile picture and video site that allows you to share your content to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr and so on. As technical definitions go it is as dry as one would expect but the real beauty and secret of Instagram is that it conveys an instant authenticity and real-ness to whatever is being shared–something which companies and marketers have been striving to achieve since time immemorial. Instagram images seem to have an instant emotional appeal that is the key (as any salesperson will tell you) to closing a sale.
Facebook Organic Reach in Freefall. It’s no secret that Facebook, in a bid to turn a profit from its tremendously popular social network, has been throttling the reach of brand pages for some time. According to some estimates, organic reach has fallen to as low as 6% and has led many businesses to explore other venues of content sharing. Ecce Instagram.
Rapid Growth and Active User Base. Now that it has passed he 200 million member mark it is the fastest growing social sharing network.
Business Friendly. Instagram has created a section of the site dedicated to business use with plans for an advertising platform in the works.
Marketer Friendly. Even though it may be owned by the Face it does not have a similar algorithm that determines what will be seen by whom. This means that, like the glory days of FB, you can post and actually expect your images to be seen.
Visual Marketing. Its easy to use suite of photo-editing tools make Instagram’s platform well-suited to visual marketing and creative branding.
It should be clear by now that in the age of digital content none of use can afford to think of ourselves solely as copywriters or wordsmiths alone. In order to be effective and reach our audiences we need to use techniques and technologies that create an immediate interest in what e produce. Instagram offers a great way to achieve this but it is up to you to figure out how to make it work for you.
